Privacy Policy
GoBeFish LLC ("GoBeFish," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, stored, and deleted when you use the GoBeFish mobile application, website, and related services.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT OR PROCESS
Account information. When you create a GoBeFish account, we process your email address, account identifier, optional display name, saved fishing mode, and authentication information. Password authentication is handled by our authentication provider; GoBeFish does not store your plaintext password.
Legal acceptance records. When you accept the Terms of Service or acknowledge this Privacy Policy, GoBeFish stores the document type, exact version, effective date, action taken, server timestamp, source, and related audit metadata.
Location information. With your device permission, GoBeFish may access precise location when you use location-based features. You may also select or confirm a fishing area. Coordinates may be used to obtain weather conditions, display maps, analyze a fishing area, recenter the map, or associate location with a fishing session or catch.
Fishing data stored locally on your device. The current beta generally stores tackle inventory and favorites, fishing preferences, fishing sessions, target species, water information, water clarity, cover, depth zone, bottom condition, optional water temperature, active presentation, spot information, catch records, catch weights, notes, saved fishing areas, and related coordinates in a local database on your device. This fishing history is not currently synchronized to GoBeFish servers.
Technical and service data. When your device communicates with GoBeFish or third-party services, those providers may process normal network and technical information such as IP address, device or operating-system information, app version, request metadata, diagnostics, and service logs.
Advertising data. The beta includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform. Beta builds may use Google test ad units. Google may process device identifiers, IP address, device/app information, approximate or precise location where permitted and applicable, and ad-related interaction data according to Google's policies and the consent choices available to the user. GoBeFish does not currently sell personal information. Production advertising configuration and required consent choices will be reviewed before public release.
2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use information to provide and secure accounts; remember fishing preferences; deliver location-based weather and map features; generate fishing recommendations and fishing-area analysis; support tackle, session, catch, trip-history, and pattern-insight features; maintain versioned legal acceptance records; display and manage advertising where enabled; troubleshoot and protect the service; comply with law; and improve reliability and user experience.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Supabase. GoBeFish uses Supabase for authentication, account profiles, versioned legal documents, legal acceptance records, database infrastructure, and server-side account deletion. Supabase processes account and technical information to provide these services.
Mapbox. GoBeFish uses the Mapbox Maps SDK and Mapbox APIs for map display and fishing-area analysis. Mapbox may receive map/API requests, device and connectivity information, IP address, and geolocation data when location has been authorized. The Mapbox attribution control included on the map provides access to Mapbox attribution, privacy information, and telemetry controls.
Open-Meteo. GoBeFish currently uses Open-Meteo to obtain live weather conditions for coordinates. Requested latitude and longitude are included in weather requests. Open-Meteo may maintain technical server logs according to its own policies.
Google Mobile Ads and User Messaging Platform. GoBeFish includes Google advertising and consent SDKs. Google may process information necessary to serve, measure, secure, and manage advertising and consent choices. Beta builds may use test ad units rather than production advertising.
Apple and Google authentication. If you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google when those options are available, Apple or Google processes authentication information under its own terms and privacy policies and provides GoBeFish with information necessary to authenticate your account, which may include an account identifier, name, and email address depending on your choices and provider settings.
Apple App Store and Google Play. App-distribution platforms may independently process device, diagnostic, account, purchase, and other information under their own terms when you download, install, update, or use the app.
4. MAPBOX TELEMETRY CHOICE
GoBeFish keeps the Mapbox attribution control visible and accessible on Mapbox maps. Mapbox provides telemetry and privacy choices through that control. GoBeFish does not intentionally disable or bypass the required Mapbox attribution or telemetry-choice mechanism.
5. LEGAL ACCEPTANCE RECORDS
GoBeFish maintains an audit record showing which version of a legal document was accepted or acknowledged and when. Published legal-document content is versioned so the exact version presented to a user can be identified.
If you permanently delete your account, GoBeFish is designed to remove your GoBeFish account UUID from retained legal acceptance records during the same server-side deletion process. A legal event record may remain with a randomly generated, non-identifying audit token so we can preserve evidence that a legal version was presented and acted upon without retaining the live account identifier in that record.
6. WHERE DATA IS STORED
Account/profile and legal-record data is hosted through Supabase cloud infrastructure. Fishing history and tackle data described above are currently stored in the app's local database on your device. Third-party providers process data on infrastructure and in locations described in their own policies.
7. RETENTION
Account/profile data. We retain server-side account and profile information while your account exists and delete it when account deletion completes, subject to information we are legally permitted or required to retain.
Local fishing data. Fishing sessions, catches, tackle, preferences, and saved fishing-area data remain on the device until deleted through app controls, account deletion, app-data clearing, or app removal, subject to operating-system behavior and device backups outside GoBeFish's control.
Legal acceptance records. Legal acceptance event records may be retained after account deletion in anonymized form for legitimate legal recordkeeping.
Third-party logs. Third-party providers maintain their own retention schedules and policies.
8. ACCOUNT AND DATA DELETION
In-app deletion. You can initiate permanent deletion from Profile > Delete Account. GoBeFish requires confirmation and may require your current password or another reasonable re-authentication step. Successful deletion removes the Supabase authentication account and profile and clears GoBeFish fishing data stored locally on that device.
External deletion request. You can request account deletion without reinstalling the app at https://gobefish.com/account-deletion or by contacting gobefishapp@gmail.com.
Local trip deletion. Where available, individual trips or trip history may also be deleted without deleting the entire account.
9. YOUR CHOICES
Location. You can deny or revoke location permission in device settings. Some GoBeFish features will be unavailable or less useful without location.
Mapbox telemetry. Use the Mapbox attribution control on the map to access Mapbox privacy and telemetry choices.
Advertising and consent. Where required, Google User Messaging Platform or other controls may provide choices related to advertising and consent. Device-level privacy settings may provide additional controls.
Account deletion. Use Profile > Delete Account, visit https://gobefish.com/account-deletion, or contact gobefishapp@gmail.com.
10. SECURITY
GoBeFish uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the service, including encrypted network transport provided by service providers, authentication controls, row-level database access controls, restricted privileged database functions, and server-side account-deletion controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.
11. CHILDREN
GoBeFish is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to applicable law, contact gobefishapp@gmail.com. Additional age or parental-consent requirements may apply depending on jurisdiction.
12. INTERNATIONAL USERS
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Privacy protections and legal rights may vary by location. Additional transfer, representative, consent, or disclosure requirements may apply if GoBeFish is offered more broadly outside the United States.
13. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or information about certain uses or disclosures of personal information. To make a request, contact gobefishapp@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy as GoBeFish changes. Materially different data practices will be reflected in a new version. The app may display the policy version and effective date and may request a new acknowledgment when appropriate.
15. THIRD-PARTY POLICIES
Third-party providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. You should review the privacy controls available through your device, Mapbox attribution control, app stores, and relevant third-party services.
